I tried this after having the like named soup from his restaurant in New York over the weekend. Next time I'll let the chicken marinate overnight to seep into the chicken a bit more, but this was really really close and great. I cut the avocado into small cubes too to get more avocado into every bite. Well worth trying this recipe!

Awesome!!! Did it last minute ,so no time to marinate the chicken but honestly, it was just as good!!! Will never do a soup mix for tortilla soup again.

Note: Added mayo to the crema and cream to the broth :

This is wonderful! The only thing that I changed was to use boneless, skinless chicken thighs. The marinade is a major flavor boost. Also, don't skimp on the tortilla strips, cliantro or tequila sour cream -- this adds significant flavor and texture, not to mention eye appeal.

Great recipe! Served it to whole family. Not too spicy but lots of flavor. Didn't have time to marinate for the full 8 hours but the marinade seems to impart its flavor quickly.

Chicken tortilla soup is one of my all time favorites and this recipe by far blew all others away...even soups that I've had in different restaurants. The flavor and heat were fabulous. I did add some frozen corn which was a great addition. Will definitely be making this one again and again!

This is an excellent soup! I wanted to make it a little more substantial so added a sliced small zucchini, some frozen corn and some plain white rice while the soup was simmering. We loved it.

Could not grill the chicken due to the weather and was not going to dirty my grill pan so I cut the chinken into 1" cubes, marinaded it in the marinade and just put chicken in pot after starting the liquid part of the soup. The marinade is a keeper and I will be using it to grill all types of meats for years to come. Soup was very good and a great comfort food for a rainy day!
As for mic9501, why would you even post a message when you don't even make sense. Rate the soup AFTER you have made it or stay off the ratings board. The ratings are to help review recipes not for anything more.
