Great recipe. I didn't have canned plum tomatoes on hand so I used 2 cans of Tutteroso crushed tomatoes. Honestly, it was so much easier than crushing tomatoes through your hands, etc. I also used a submersion Cuisinart hand blender, again it was easier that digging out my blender and cleaning that. Even with those minor changes the recipe was great.

Great sauce! I added Italian Sausage and used spaghetti instead of penne. Only used about 1/4 cup of vodka because I was afraid it would be overpowering and ruin it.

This was fabulous. The most delicious pasta sauce ever including a Culinary Institute of America one I have made to rave reviews. I made a few substitutions: I didn't have vodka so I used white wine and I used Redpack diced tomatoes with garlic and basil (San Marzano too expensive and it was absolutely delicious. The smell from the oven when the sauce was in there was heavenly and made everyone drool. I sent some home to my sister who shared it with her girls that night and had the leftovers for breakfast! This one will be made a lot but when it is colder outside as it heats up the kitchen. I will make it in the fall/winter next time. I made it in August because it looked so good when Ina made it that I couldn't wait for the cooler weather.

Delicious! My husband insisted on adding Italian sausage to it, which was also delicious. Will make this again and again.

This recipe was amazing! The sauce was exactly like one out of a frozen meal that I love - which is what I was trying to duplicate. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars was because I really think that is too much vodka, which is comparable to all other recipes. I used 1/4 of a cup, b/c I have made burned vodka sauce before, it was absolutely perfect. I will keep this recipe make it all the time! My husband, who I made the burned vodka sauce for for our first date, absolutely LOVED this recipe.

wow. I watched Ina make this a few times after having downloaded Back to Basics to my i*touch. I couldn't wait to make it - which means I couldn't wait to find the San Marzano tomatoes... so, I used high quality peeled/canned and it still came out FABULOUS. I can't wait to try again with the real thing! Another reader posted that it was "easy and quick" which I scoffed at when starting but in reality... she is right. The 90 min in the oven gives you a chance to clean up the first round and prep for the 2nd so that it does seem pretty easy. DELISH. seriously. I wonder how well this sauce will freeze!!?!?

Easy and quick. My family almost prefers this recipe to our own family recipe for vodka sauce. I tripled the recipe on the first try and got rave reviews.

This has become a real go-to meal for us. My husband's favorite, especially when I add Italian sausage!

Made this many times and everyone loved it. It is a bit spicey so we've reduce the crushed red pepper a bit.
