Planning on trying this recipe next week because it looked so delicious. Just wondering if anyone has used alternatives to the ciabatta bread, if so what kind? Also with the steak is flank steak or skirt steak the best option or should I try something else? Thanks in advance!

This was yummy and fun to make. I am not a huge fan of ciabatta bread, but other than that it was good!

Isn't it nice to sit at home and listen to a happy, cute and cheerful, self-made TV host demonstrate some fabulous recipes??? I love this recipe and many others that Rachel Ray shares with us. This sandwich is as close as I can come to the sandwich that my husband grew up enjoying while living in Philidelphia. That is quite an accomplishment. We both thank you, Rachel. Keep smiling because, evidently, some others can't enjoy the success of others. You rock!

My opinion is simple. Rachel demonstrated on TV then put info on the web. The combination of a tasty meat and the tasty bread...winner. This is a good one. Annie, Fremont, CA.

We are from Chicago, so my husband LOVES his Italian Beef Sandwiches! When I saw this recipe I knew I had to try it out. If you like more heat, try using peppercini's instead of banana peppers. We grilled the steak, and it turned out way too tough for the sandwich! The cheese sauce paired with the peppers and onions, however, was DELICIOUS! The verdict was that we loved the toppings, but not so much the steak. I am definitely making this again, but rather than using steak I am going to pile it high with thinly sliced Italian Beef. Also, make sure the bread you choose for this meal isn't too thick, otherwise, it will be hard to distinguish the delicious tastes underneath. Thanks for the great dinner idea, Rachael!

I made these for my dad's birthday dinner and he thought they were GREAT! I used Flank Steak also, I do not eat meat, so I did not eat it, my parents did say it was a little tough, but it was the cut of meat. Would definitely make these again!!! I also couldn't find the peppers so used 1yellow, 1red, and 1orange...GREAT!
Also, has anybody ever made a rachael ray recipe in 30 minutes? lol It took me about 2hours to make the sofa night meal

Loved the recipes. You should try the potatoes with hot pepper cheese. But I suggest that like me, most cooks do not have six extra large burners to prepare the "Sofa Night" sandwich and potatoes in 30 minutes.

I made this for my boyfriend and i and we LOVED it! I used a red, yellow, and orange bell pepper b/c like one of the other ppl rating this said "those cubanelle peppers dont exist in our grocery store" It is definatly a keeper..I think next time I might switch it up and instead of provolone cheese sauce(which was great im gonna make cheddar cheese sauce..
