Turned out to be pretty good, but could have been a bit thicker and less sweet. I remember making this is high school cooking class. We used vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt and 1% milk with no sugar added to the mix. Makes for a thicker and sweet, yet tart shake.

Maybe you should try it without the sugar and the vanilla. I'm sure the original recipie would be pretty simple...the best recipies usually are!!

Cannot review since I have not tried. My belief is that the since the original Orange Julius contained eggs (before the salmonella scare, it never had the same rich taste. I have tried other recipe attempts and while some of them are o.k., I have never experienced the same taste as the original Orange Julius.

I ws so excieted to see this recipe in the Food Network Magazine, that I bought all the ingredients and tried it. Boy was I dissappointed! I grew up with an Orange Julius hamburger stand not far from my childhood home. When we were in high school my friends and I would go there for lunch at least 3 times a week. And we always ordered that wonderful frothy out of this world orange julius drink. It was also the local date night hang out place, since there was a Tower Records store just a couple doors down. I have been trying out all of the different "Orange Julius Milkshake" recipes that are all over the internet and not a single one of them even comes close to the original. I was extremely dissappointed after trying the one in the Food Network Magazine. It, too, was nothing like the original. It was way too sweet. I think the Food Network test chefs should go back to the kitchen on this one and try again.

It was OK. It was really sweet and really vanilla-ish. I would do it with less vanilla and less sugar.
