it was good but not wow. I give it a 3.5. It was good but not great/I have had better. The kids liked it better than the adults so not real strong on the flavor. I did use a golden beer and not stout/was what we had on hand.

All who tried it, loved it! It is quite different, but delicious. Definitely is not lacking in flavor. It did definitely make more than 4 servings. More like 6-8.

The brisket was overcooked based on the time called for in the recipe , but was edible. I didn't care for the sauce. It had no taste. Next time I'll try adding some new flavors to the sauce. Maybe hoison or something alittle sweeter.

I tried this recipe today. I can both confirm and deny what is written here:
-the brisket was tender, moist and fell apart. Excellent
-it was easy to prepare and cook
-as far as meat sandwiches go, I've had better sauces than this one but I still think it tasted very good and I would prepare it again until I find something better. Defiinitely worth a first try.
-yes, there is a pungent odor while cooking and that is from the red wine vinegar, but, if that is a flavor you like than you will be happy with this. The sauce is a type of sweet and sour.
Hey, I just finished it and I could go for second.

I made it and was not really impressed. Because there are only two of us in the house, I used less brisket to the same portion of seasonings. I used a slow cooker and my brisket was still dry. The boyfriend couldn't figure how I could slowly cook that cut of meat in a slow cooker with the ingredients and it still be dry. 'Tis my life.

The butcher was out of brisket!! I got a yummy roast instead, and it worked... but you can't really achieve that fall-aparty-ness everyone loves with that cut and the "6-hour quickie" plan. Hubby still loved it. I made it a sandwich with onion rolls and coleslaw in the sandwich. Makes a great next-day meal in his lunch box, too. Plan to back off the red wine vinegar and kick up the tomato next time, or maybe more balance will be achieved with brown sugar? No matter what, this one will see my dining room table again :

Great texture - fell apart, tender and juicy. However, sauce was very runny, oily and kinda funky tasting. Strong vinegar odor but no distinct flavor. I will definitely make brisket in slow cooker again, but I will find another recipe.

This was delicious. Great texture with the coleslaw and the brisket. Yummy!
