4 stars for the food minus 1 for the typos. Yes the typos are important to the rating as it makes the measurements inaccurate. I assumed the 14 cup maple sugar was more reasonably 1/4 cup but the ingredient list has no pepper listed thus no amount either so I had yo really guess..,made it equal to the salt. I think it was a little much/ was a bit too spicy/would like more sweetness to come through.

First let me say that if you're criticizing the typos in the recipe I don't think it's fair to give the recipe a 1 or 2 star review because it's not the fault of the chef. Better to address those issues by an e-mail to Food Network.

Second, this was fantastic. Like others, I had to use brown sugar although next time (and there will definitely be a next time I plan on using maple SYRUP instead. To save calories, I baked instead of deep fried (25 to 30 minutes at 400 degrees turning halfway. Some of the excess brown sugar that came off the fries did burn but was easily removed.

I think that you can get by with using brown sugar such as turbinado (Sugar in the Raw if you can't find maple sugar (as it is hard to find.

Made these with pork ribs and the were great. I read beyond the FN typos and used 1/4 cup maple sugar and 1-inch slices of potato.

I agree! This seems to be a consistent problem with recipes posted online. This specific recipe is quite obviously wrong but sometimes the errors aren't as obvious and it just isn't right for dedicated viewers to invest time and money to make recipes they are excited about and have them ruined due to a lack of proof reading before posting a recipe. Respect the viewers time and money and please make accuracy a priority Food Network!
