This is a great recipe. The butter is SO fresh and I will only use homemade butter from now on (except for baking, etc. I'd love to try adding herbs and zest to make compound butter but I don't want to overpower the great butter flavor. Truly AWESOME!! I LOVE ALEX!

I had no idea that making butter was that easy and the taste is out of this world compared to store bought butter. My only suggestion for anyone that tries this recipe is that you keep a close eye on the mixer as soon as it starts getting close to about 15 min. Otherwise you might end up with buttermilk all over the place (I found out the hard way.

This is really good. Made 2 batches one with honey & cinnamon added. Love the fresh taste. Alex is so cool and a great chef. I have a very heavy duty stand mixer so it whipped up in about 10 min. Using the proper sour cream is also a must to create the best butter.

This was so easy to make and only took 15 minutes. I was thrilled when I tasted it. The butter tastes just like my grandmothers. She churned her butter (or had my cousin and I do it when we were little. My husband and I will be eating this with everything except when I bake. I love your show. By the way, the mushrooms with spinach was outstanding too! I would like to see more of you on the food channel.

Another great use for my kitchenaid mixer. My son looked at it and said,"what does it taste like?" - tasted it and said,"oh butter"...I will be making this over and over...

I made this recipe right after Alex's show ended -- the butter is wonderful! The recipe reads 15 minutes from start to finish. However, I used a Cuisinart 5.5 mixer equipped with the whipping beater and it took a higher speed than the speed indicated on Alex's show. I used a speed of 6 for the first 15 minutes, then cranked it up to 9. Overall, the enter process took about 25 minutes, maybe more. I am at 8,000 feet, though, so I'm wondering if that made a difference.
The final product yielded 1/2 pound of butter and 2 cups of fresh buttermilk. I'm thinking there may be some buttermilk fried chicken in my family's future!

I never knew this was so simple. Absolutely as easy as boiling water. It turned out perfect. I can only imagine the homemade flavored butters I can make from this recipe. From now on store bought butter will only be used for recipes.
Thanks, Nick
