These were fabulous and I didn't even use hot sauce...I make hot dogs this way all the time now. I hosted a make your own hot dog bar last summer with several of the recipes from this article in Foodnetwork magazine. We also tried bruscetta dogs and the classic New York dog among others...they were all great! It was a lot of fun and I think will be an annual tradition now!

I make a similar dog using all of the above mentioned ingredients except hot sauce, I also add sautéed mushrooms...btw, omit the whiz and go with velveeta.
Have you ever tried a bacon burger cheese dog...it is sooo good.

These were pretty good... The more hot sauce, the better!

OK, vilmsie, here's my interpretation:
8 Kosher Beef Hot Dogs
1 Red Bell Pepper; strips
1 Green Bell; strips
1 Onion; slice rings
2 c Cheese Whiz sauce; *
8 Hoagie rolls
Hot Pepper sauce
* Or maybe melted Velveeta
Grill your hot dogs until well marked and done as you like them.
Meanwhile, sauté peppers and onion in a large sauté pan until peppers are very softened and onion is translucent. At the same time, heat the cheese sauce or melt the Velveeta.
Toast the Hoagie rolls if you like them that way, and then put the hot dogs into the rolls. Slather on the peppers and onions, add hot sauce, and top with the hot cheese sauce.
