To make a simple syrup: heat equal parts sugar, and water (commonly 1/4 cup of each -- or extra for another day, with a few pieces of crystallized ginger, chopped. Go easy on the ginger, and add more to taste. Ginger is a potent flavor, and a little goes a long way. Extra simple syrup can saved for another day, for a little far east zing to sweet, or savory dishes.

I took a guess on the ratings based on how the flavors should come together, but I wanted to at least answer the simple syrup dilemna. I'm expecting to rank it a five-star when I get the ingredients together.
