We made it this yesterday, it was good but waaaay too sweet! If I make it again I'll cut the hoisin sauce down to 1/4 cup and throw in hot pepper flakes.

While I would agree that this was "easy" there is a lot of steps to it, but it is well worth the work. I also poached a couple of chicken breasts in 1/2 cup of chicken stock with 1/4 tsp Chinese 5 Spice. (Salted and peppered the chicken first. Sliced the chicken and added it when I added the green beans and carrots to the noodles. Used the stock to blanch the green beans and carrots and to also cook the noodles. Definitely a keeper!

Really good recipe. I replaced the green beans with frozen peas and used udon noodles rather than the crunchy ones. Next time I make it, I'm going to add a stalk of diced celery. I think it belongs in chow mein. The friends I served it to loved it and so did I.

It was tasty but I cut the Hoisin sauce in half and added 2 tablespoon of oyster sauce instead so it's not as sweet. Also add some hot sauce and it was good! A quick easy meal.

To add some texture, I would leave the chowmein noodles dry and toast them a bit. (Recipe was rather "soggy" but tasty!

Swap out the Crunchy Noodles with Home~Made using Wonton wrappers cut in "match~sticks" and baked. A bit Healthier. Has wonderfull Flavours, just pre~thought out for Lower Sodium ingredients. Use chop sticks for a fun night just for two. Swap out Saki with a low Alcoholic Wine/Beer. Lots of paper napkins! Try leftovers Baked w/wonton wrappoers. Dip in mustard with a touch of cinnamon...

I very rarely dislike one of Giada's recipes, but this one didn't turn out well. I'd willing to try it again, but I would take the advice of another reviewer and use high quality hoisin sauce next time. It was just way too sweet.

Made this last night and it was delicious! I made a few changes though. I added one red pepper to the carrots and green beans and cooked them all together. Then I thinly sliced up three chicken breasts and sauteed them up while the noodles were cooking. Added just a tad more Hoisin sauce, but not even 1/4 cup. It still was enough sauce to cover everything. Another substitution that I made was to swap the mushrooms. I didn't have any Shiitake mushrooms, so I added 1 - 8 oz. can of Straw mushrooms that I had in my cupboard. (They might be difficult to find but are well worth it! My husband loved it! I will agree with whorne2006 that the green bean texture wasn't the best. I will add them to the water a minute or two before I add the pepper and carrot next time. Otherwise, fabulous recipe! I am so glad that I tried it!! Thanks Giada!
