I am so glad that I read the reviews thoroughly - thank you for all your insightful reviews! I saw this episode a while ago and was interested in making them. Then I saw the overall 4 stars, which made me wonder if I still wanted to try it. Upon reading the reviews, I realized the overall rating of 4 stars was due to some inconsiderate and irrelevant reviews and not due to actual taste. So I gave it a try tonight and I loved the dish! I usually don't like too strong of raw onion and/or garlic flavor, but this one had a nice balance of savoriness and richness. I think the touch of sugar helps to blend well the acidity and garlic/onion flavor. I can see using the pesto for scallops and other white fish, and I cannot wait to explore more! I did substitute pecans with sliced toasted almonds. Next time, I'll probably add a touch of soy sauce to the protein before cooking them (I used cast iron grill pan.

I am addicted to cilantro so this pesto is PERFECT for me! We can't eat much shellfish because of hubby's gout but thankfully the pesto goes with so many things!!! I have tried so many of your recipes and while I don't always understand the pricing any better than Sandra's, so what?! I love your show! I can do my own shopping and switching to make things work out for ME so please don't let the negative comments worry you. Most of us GET it! Keep up the fantastical work! :

I enjoyed this recipe, and it was very quick and easy. The only slight problem I had was with the pesto mixed into the shrimp it was hard for me to tell when the shrimp was cooked through (pink color. I cooked it a few minutes longer than directed, and it still tasted raw so I cooked it a couple more minutes with a lid on. Excited to try the left over pesto on chicken!

Googooeyes, your comment about the cost of the Melissa's recipes not correct. She, I believe, is saying that the quantity used adds up to what she says in that she didn't use a whole jar of Nutella. She only used a portion of it and that's where the cost is calculated from.

Delicious and easy to make. I didn't use all the pesto and used it to marinate chicken for the grill the next night. It was awesome!

So simple to put together. I used parsley instead of cilantro (personal preference for the pesto. Very tasty and such a fresh flavor. Will definitely make this again.
