I admit I've never watched this chef's show before... in fact I registered with the website just to rave about how amazing this recipe came out. I'd been looking for something to do with all of my extra cilantro from yesterday's guacamole.

I made some minor substitutions as I didn't have green onions or vegetable oil on hand. Used half a small yellow onion, caramelized it in 2tbsp of peanut oil and poured the whole lot in the blender with the pesto (omitting the sugar as well.

The flavor is light and fresh, and went perfectly over whole grain pasta with a nice summer salad. I'm not even a big fan of cilantro, but this dinner was fabulous. Thanks!

This was surprisingly good. I wasn't sure if it was going to work as I put it together, and was pleasantly surprised. Would brighten it up with tomatoes next time. Very light, very healthy. Served it with the lentil and quinoa salad, which was another pleasant surprise. Melissa's recipes are simple and she really does a good job of taking the guesswork out of cooking while leaving room for you to have your own preferences and interpretation. I respect that many people on this site do not care for her, but please rate the recipe and not the person on the TV! The nasty comments help no one, and make the site worse for the rest of us.

I watched her make this on her program and thought, man, that looks good, and I can do it. I was right on both counts. I followed the recipe exactly, and we both LOVED it. Will do it again for sure. I suspect the negative comments in the other posts are from those who tried to shortcut or modify the recipe. Do it the way Melissa did it, and it's superb. I'm no masterful cook; if I can make this come out great, anyone can.

That said, I hope Melissa's producers read this: Please stop showing us closeups of her face while she's using her hands to prepare something. This is a cooking show, not a glamor contest. Check out how it's done on Giada's programs--you always get closeups of exactly what Giada is doing with the food.

I don't know what the prevoius rater was doing... Melissa is under a TV time-crunch and has to speak quickly. Did this reviewer even try the actual recipe before posting negativity??
Yummy and I love the personality coming through....thanks Melissa.

I have an adventurous palate but this dish was very unappetizing. Cilantro pesto, a mistake, tasted awful. Added to "not economical" preparing Shrimp with Cilantro Pesto was a waste, for sure.

I made this recipe over the weekend, along with the Quinoa and Lentil salad. I have made many of her recipes, and every one is a hit in my book. Unfortunately, we don't have bulk, so a box of quinoa was $5.00, and I have to laugh at her prices for produce. For some reason down here in the South produce is outrageously priced. The roma tomatoes she used on Sunday would be $2.99 on sale down here, whereas she got them for 79 cents a lb. I do love her show, though, I learn something new with each show, and I haven't cooked a bad recipe yet, they're all delicious! Thanks Melissa, I'm certainly glad you were the winner of "The Next Food Network Star" and I hope you have a long life on Food TV.

My family loved the shrimp and pesto. I make alot of basil pesto in the summer so they had some reservations about cilantro pesto. Everyone loved it. They requested it again this week. I made the shrimp and pesto as per the receipe and mixed it with the extra pesto and wheat angel hair pasta in a bowl. It was terrific. Made the quinoa and lentil salad on a different night and it was a big hit too. Melissa is my go to cook for food I know my family and my budget will like.

I was hesitant about this recipe but wanted to give it a try because I was sick of the same old flavors we use when cooking shrimp, and I have a ton of cilantro in my garden. I tried this and loved it. My hard to please husband also said it was a keeper! The only thing I left out was the green onion since I did not have any. Overall a great dish and pretty easy to make. I do agree that where I live it would probably cost me more than $10 to make the whole meal, but overall it is a cheap meal! My grocer sells shrimp from Belize frozon (already peeled and deveined for a good price so I don't think this recipe is overly expensive.

I made this pesto. I coated chicken tenders in it and rolled them in crushed tortilla chips. Baked at 400for 15-20 minutes. Served with buttered rice ( splashed with hot sauce and sliced avacado. It was delicious.
I just bought shrimp so I can sautee as Melissa did but I'm going to make shrimp tacos with a mango salsa!!
    LOVE THIS RECIPE....
