I made no changes and this was my first successful attempt at making french bread (I've tried three other recipes. Quick, easy and a keeper!

Very easy recipe to make the only ajustments I had to make was to use only 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 cup more of flour. 350 degree oven for about 22 min's very tastey hot and buttered top.

I have made thing recipe twice and will be making it alot! I cut the pieces into 12 piece. This is the perfect size to make small sandwiches and/or just to put in a nice dish to serve along with a meal. THANKS!!!

I have been waiting for a recipe like this! I absolutely love Poor Boys! As far as it tasting yeasty, I wouldn't mind that, I love sourdough bread , and I love baking bread and the smell of yeast !
For those that are having problems with it sticking, invest in a Silpat, or its cheaper cousin. Nothing sticks to them, in or out of the oven!

I can see endless possibilities for this bread already!

On the Hockey Pucks, sounds like you did something wrong, or over-mixed the dough!

Never fail recipe. The only change I've made is to divide the recipe into 8 loaves instead of 6. My family loves it so much that I baked 3 recipes in one day. I don't suggest doubling.
Thanks Chef Rick! Hope to see you again soon at the White Light Diner.

It too me 3x's to make this recipe wok for me. The first batch I thought was WAY too salty. Then the 2nd Batch was too sweet. So I increased the honey only a pinch. Now it's tastes like REAL french bread.

This is a good recipe to use, very easy, very quick. I made it with Wheat flour as well, and used fast rising yeast. Made 6 small loaves. We had it with spiced pumkin pecan preserves and butter fresh out of the oven. Awesome!!!!!
