Crazy, genius Anne Burell, u are my idol! And the recipe for the crostata u gave with this one.. Super rockstar chef in my house. Thank you for your inspirations. I changed the swiss chard for watercress in the crostata and it was genius. I never though I was going to like the kitchen until u came along.. Cooking is now my passion..

This soup was the bomb! I used Lima beans instead of fava like some others said they did because they didn't have them at my grocery store. Even my picky husband loved it who usually doesn't even like soup. Thanks Anne for another hit.

    Un. Bee. LEEEEEAVBLE!!!!!

This was absolutely fantastic. The bacon is a MUST, and I added more than a healthy pinch of red pepper flakes because I would eat them for breakfast if I could. I'd never had fava beans before, so I had no idea what to expect; Anne, you blew my socks off. I used a high-quality, locally produced olive oil to finish, and it was PERFECT.

Delicious! First time we had fava beans and my daughter just had her 4th helping of soup. It's a little late in the season so we used dry favas and soaked them overnight then cooked them until they were al dente and then followed the recipe. We will absolutely make this again. Any recipe that has my picky "tween" daughter eating four helpings is a keeper!

MY FIRST TASTING OF FAVA BEANS AND, CERTAINLY, NOT THE LAST. NOT THAT LABOR INTENSIVE BECAUSE IF YOU SQUEEZE THE 'FOLDED' SIDE OF THE BEAN (AFTER THE COLD WATER BATH, THEY JUST SHOOT OUT. TASTE OF THIS SOUP IS DIVINE. I ONLY PUREED ABOUT A THIRD OF THE SOUP AND JUST ADDED THE REST AS IS. I ALSO ADDED SOME CARROTS. EXCELLENT RECIPE FROM AN EXCELLENT TEACHER AND CHEF.

A friend gave me fresh fava beans from his garden and I have never cooked with fava beans. I found this recipe and am really glad I did. The shelling process was a little labor intensive but the end result was worth it. Creamy and rich. Unless you're a strict vegetarian, do NOT omit the bacon.

I watched Anne make this on her show and I wanted to try it. I didn't have fresh fava beans in my grocery store but I did find frozen shelled fava beans. Other than the frozen beans I made this with the bacon and exactly per the recipe states. It was delicious. Kind've an interesting twist on split pea soup. I also used an immersion blender to blend the soup in the pot without the hassle of taking everything out and putting it in a regular blender. This recipe is a keeper!
