Made this as directed and it came out perfect. You are a great teacher and chef Anne. Everything I've made has come out exactly as it should. I love your show and hope you are around to share your wonderful culinary skills and creativity for a long time to come.

Deeelish! I couldn't find Fava beans so I used baby Lima beans & prosciutto instead of bacon. It was a definite hit & it'll be a repeat. Nice hearty soup for the fall...great recipe.

Now, I made a couple of minor adjustments to this (no bacon simply because I didnt have any on hand and no celery because its ribby and gross. Outside of that, I stuck to the recipe. I took a roundabout suggestion from one of the other recipe reviewers (they used a chipotle pepper to get the smokey flavor one might get from bacon and added about 2 dashes of chipotle chili powder (again, just something I had on hand. This is one of the best soups I've ever made. Its worth it to shell the pound or so of favas. I could see a drizzle of garlic or lemon infused olive oil over the hot soup working really well with this. This recipe is a winner Anne! WOOOT!!!

I have a house hold of non meat eater so I replaced the bacon with a dried chipotle chile and it worked wonderfully. I have mad it 3 time once when I could find favas and with baby lima bean and edamame it was great with all of them. We have also had it cold which was also good.

I had to use edamame because I called EVERY market in my area and no favas. But the soup was still rich and delicious. I followed the rest of the recipe to the LETTER with great success. It was creamy and topped with parm and evoo....everyone was beyond impressed. I also made the crostata and it was perfect. I'll make this again. I froze the two bowls or so that were left and will warm it up with some homemade veggie stock from my freezer when I'm ready for a quick and fresh tasting quick dinner for myself.

I grew up on Pole Lima Beans, (esp with dumplings, and never tried Fava Beans until this recipe. I don't know if I would exactly be like Anne and say, "Lima Who?" after having them; however, this soup was delicious. It's not tedious at all, and it does take one back to childhood shelling the beans. And might I add that I would watch Anne make a pb&j sandwich. She is so fluid and at home in the kitchen. Pure pleasure to watch on Saturday morning and definitely an asset to the "FN in the Kitchen" line-up.
