Needs more vegetables and less bread.

I really liked this recipe! I almost didn't make it after reading a bad review, but I'm glad I did. It wasn't bland at all. I think the key is to add enough cayenne, tomatoes and spinach and not too much bread. I used spinach. I didn't have Fontina so I used a mix of Mozzarella and grated Swiss and it turned out great. Note that it is very, very filling! The recipe says it's for 6 people, but I would say it's for 6 football players!

Hard for me to give this recipe even 1 star. I thought it was almost tasteless and quite frankly was expensive to make. I made two trays for a party and barely one of them was touched. I ended up throwing all of it away. I am so embarrassed to have served this to my guests without having tasted it first...YUK!

As another reviewer mentioned, the recipe looks more complicated than it is. Using sun-dried tomatoes rather than roasting and drying them yourself makes all the difference time-wise, but not taste-wise. I mixed in the chopped, sun-dried tomatoes the night before, along with the chopped fresh spinach. Before baking in the morning, I decorated the top with fresh tomato slices, tossed in evoo and sprinkled with basil. I served it at three different brunches over the holidays (using sourdough bread twice, and french bread once, and was asked for the recipe every time. Different and delicious!

Looks harder than it is! Just keep in mind that you're going to have to roast the tomatoes for an hour before anything! The roasted tomatoes make this dish. I used spinach, and that had great flavor.

the ingredients are first rate and it was very easy to make once the ingredients are assembled. The hardest part is slicing the tomatoes and roasting them for an hour, we modified the recipe to french bread because one of our family members can't eat the sourdough and we mixed the tomatoes in together when all the ingredients were tossed. this recipe also easily feeds double the number stated. 4 of us ate heartily and had at least a few more meals for each left over.

After reading the reviews for this recipe, I thought that this was going to be a sure thing for my Christmas Brunch. I was actually a little disappointed with this recipe. I found that it didn't have much flavour and it was lacking texture. I certainly did not keep any for left overs and I don't think that I will be recommending this dish nor will I be making this dish in the future.

Such a simple recipe but tastes great. I enjoyed the ease of making this the night before and then just popping in the oven the next day. My guests enjoyed and my mother-in-law asked for the recipe!

This was soooo tasty! I did a "dry run" before Christmas and this is definitely going on the menu!
