The taste of these was great and they were really easy to make, but I had the same problem of the juice leaking out of the top. I think maybe I cut too big of a slit. I think that I would also make more filling next time because I didn't think there was enough in each pie. Overall a cute idea and my family loved them.
This is an ok recipe. It's very elegant and not hard to make, but I would find a different type of filling for it. The strawberry mix is too moist for the crust, which doesn't get fully cooked at the bottom. The juices also overflow the crust and end up on the surface of the muffin pan, so when you eat the pies they're not very sweet because the sweetness was lost on the outside. I would definitely keep the idea of the mini pies and just find another filling for them.
I tried these tonight...I watch the video about 10 times...well...the bottons were not done at all. the tops and filling were very good...but nips on the rest.

These were great little tarts - I didn't put tops on them, just left them open on top & they came out great. I used cornstarch instead of arrowroot because I couldn't find it. I also used orange zest & freshly squeezed orange juice, yum!
Only 3 stars, but probably because of me. Used cornstarch (could not find arrowroot in VA, followed directions, tried to remember the show...ended up with nearly empty pies with nice taste, but hollow all the same. Maybe not enough filling, too small a cut in top of pie. I will try again.

They were super cute! I used regular cornstarch instead of arrowroot and it worked just fine. Now I make baby apple pies and baby pumpkin ones!!
