So glad you won as you bring a wonderful cuisine to light and make it all look so easy! Only suggestion I would make is to guard against the double dipping when sampling your food. Otherwise, cook on and congratulation again!

My 7 year old and i watch your show every sunday. It is our Girl time. I am blessed to have a DVR and a DVD player/recorder. I have all of your shows on a DVD so I can rewatch them to see if I missed anything. I have seen these at our local farmers market. I have never been brave enough to thry them but I will now. I am lind of a purest at heart so I will use Aarti's dough recipe. If you can not find the seed suggest for the dough try orgeno(sp I searched the web to see if I could find these.this is what was suggested as a replacement. I need to get the mint ,clintro and mustard seeds....I love that Aarti has been introducing us to american food with an Indian twist. Someone once said they would love a real indian recipe. This is one. Granted she bakes hers and does not deep fry. I am sure Bobby and the selection committe knew what we were getting in Aarti and WOW. I do not think she is a disappointment yet. I have mad most of her recipes and I have not found one I dislike. I am sure that Aarti will little by little give us some traditional Indian fare. But the show is not that, it is Amercian foods with an Indian twist. But she has done a wonderful job. NFNS did a awesome job picking her. I might need to cut a bit of the oil out of the chutney. but I love this. I will make the coconut toffee for the 7 year old since like Aarti she is a girly girl. Keep rock them out Aarti you are the best.

My family really enjoyed these. I substituted lamb for the chicken, and it was a hit. The recipe makes a lot, so I will use the left over to make sandwiches with toasted naan or pita bread. The chutney was scrumptious as well. On another note, the puff pastry is high in fat so using another type of dough, even if you fry it, may result in similar fat value. Way to go, Aarti!

    Hey Aarti,

I hoped you would win the NFC and you did. Great! Food Network needed some new blood. I love your personality, your sense of humor and of course the recipes. I made "I ain't chicken" chicken and the samosas with mint chutney. Loved using the puff pastry for the dough. Easy Peasy. Whoa!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about those dishes.
You are delightful and a wonderful shot in the arm for the Food Network.
    Keep on keepin' on.

But the prep time is much more than 30 min. It took me (from washing mint/cilantro to finished prepping everything about 1 hour and I'm not a beginner. Recipe was easy read.
Samosas were difficult to fold so I did it like an empanada. Filling was ultra good, full of layered flavors and the mint chutney was equally great, perfectly paired.
My guy saw me working in the kitchen, with mashing, folding and he fried the mustard seeds....when he ate his 5th one... he said.."I thought this was one of those recipes where you did all this work and it came out just o.k. tasting, but, these are great! I love this green sauce, and how did you do the potatoes, I can taste them and they're so good!"
    ...need I say more?
I will make these again and again, even though they are a little labor intensive, worth the extra effort...great for entertaining I suppose, as we have plenty left over.
Thank you Aarti for sharing, GREAT recipe!

The samosas were delicious and the recipe easy to follow. Aarti is charming and fun to watch. Hooray for some interesting cooking - much more fun to watch than endless giant cake contests.

I made these after I saw the show this morning. The mangos weren't ripe so I used pineapple. They were absolutely delicious. However, I would have loved to have made the traditional ones that she talked about at the beginning of the show (even if they are deep fried. I know she is doing traditional dishes with an Indian twist, but a full on Indian recipe every now and then would be awesome!
