I'm not a licorice fan so I kept the anise amount the same, but tripled the rest and made a huge batch. Huge hit! All the spices can be found at an Indian or Asian market. And much cheaper than specialty spice shops. Why pay a lot when you're not sure you'll like them?!

I found this to be a very mild chai. I drink black tea with honey and cream everyday and I could hardly a difference. I know Aarti did not claim that is was spicy, but so many others did. I am glad I tried it but will continue to look for a srtonger flavored chai. I have enjoyed watching Aarti on her new show and will continue to give her recipes a try. Aarti please pay aatention to the details on your recipes! Once I loose trust in a recipe writer I hardly ever go back! This chai recipe claims to serve 6 to 8 whereas I would call it 2. The recipe makes 2 cups = 16 oz and I can't imagine serving someone less than a half of a cup (in which case you can serve 4. Also, I would consider this recipe an easy level. What step in this recipe is intermediate?

This chai is so tasty. It's not too sweet, and I even made it with low fat milk. It still tastes perfect - warm and spicy.

I like my chai really sweet so I added a bit of sugar to it. Great flavors! Very easy to make!

Hi Aarti, I was so delighted when you won. I have never tried Indian food and truthfully never thought about it until I watched your show.
You have such a wonderful personality and your stories all make me smile.
I have your shows on automatic taping, so that I can enjoy them and not miss any. I am anxious to try this Chai Tea and other recipes you have shown.
Will you ever be coming to the Phila area?
You bring such freshness to the FN. Keep smiling. ;-

I can't believe that, much as I love chai, it had never occurred to me I could make my own! This recipe is fabulous & very easy.
To Millie in Durant OK, and other folks who may have trouble finding certain spices:
You can try ordering on-line; I'll bet you'll find most of them. Or, if you can get ground but not whole spices, you can start by substituting 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon for the cinnamon stick, 2/3 tsp ground cardamom for the 4 pods, 1/2 tsp ground cloves for the 4 cloves, and 1/2 tsp ground anise seed (not the same spice, but similar OR 1/2 tsp Five Spice powder for the 1/2 star anise. Then you can adjust amounts to find just the combination of spices that pleases you most.

I made this today. It was excellent! I had no idea just how simple it was to make Chai tea! Truely packs a punch with spices. I am just relaxing at the thought of another cup! Thanks Aarti, for the great recipes and making me believe "I can do it too!"

This chai is so easy and so amazing!! I think I'm also excited because it uses ingredients I happened to have. I love using my spices to cook so this recipe is really up my ally. I'm used to Tim Hortons chai tea so when I compare this recipe to my favourite, there is almost too much of a certain spice but that's just my own preference so I didn't factor that into my rating. I didn't add much honey at all at first then the second time I made it, I only added milk. Please be aware that this does not serve 8 to 10 (2 cups of water is enough for 1 or two people unless you are serving shot glasses of it. I doubled the recipe just for myself and stored it in my fridge without adding milk. As I wanted some, I put some in a mug, microwaved it, and added milk. Try it!

I loved your show this week for tea party snacks. My son loves, loves, LOVES chai. I like it too, but not like him. Anyway, I wrote in last week and just wanted to thank you for implementing all my suggestions. I don't know who is reading your reviews, but it is working. You were perfectly down to earth, informative and fun without being so giggly you appeared silly. And I liked how you tasted as you went, rather than using up preciuos minutes of camera time to cut, chew, talk with your mouth full and exclaim how wonderful you own food was. That is for us to do. It was perfect!!! I love watching your show, and I want to cook just like you! :
