I love chai and have been looking for a recipe. Was super excited to try this. The flavor was good. I am confused how only 2 cups of water makes 8- 10 servings. I was watching the show and got interrupted and just looked up the recipe on line. Is there a typo, did she use more water in her presentation?

Love the recipes but for those of us that live in rural areas where fresh herbs and spices aren't readily available it is tough to make conversions. I know ground ginger and fresh ginger shouldn't be converted but what about the other spices in the chai tea. The look on the grocer's face when I asked for cardamom pods was priceless.

I love watching Aarti. She is bringing a perspective to Indian cooking that allows the novice to embrace it and prepare it and enjoy it. Please keep Aarti on, and give her a better time slot! I went out and bought the spices I didn't have so that I could make this, and I love it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I love me some chai. I have to be careful since I could drink it all day long. I am going to use loose leef tea and I am going to use a seeping bag to add the spices. I need to go find star anise.... I have everything else. I love that Aarti tells such wonderful heartfealt stories about how important Tea (Chai is to the Indian people. I never knew they drank that much tea. My English grandmother used to drink tea with milk and everyone thought I was werid. It is nice to see that I am not alone. This whole episode is dinner tonight. Thanks again NFNS for picking Aarti....She is a star.

Hi Aarti, I have been watching FNS since the first episode and knew you would be the Next Star. Being an Indian, I was very proud of your accomplishment. You have a natural talent for cooking. I tried couple of your recipes and found very good. I'm known in my family and friends as an excellent cook trying different cusines and I should say that I have learnt few things from your shows. I tried your chai today as soon as the show is over and was extremely happy with the results. I usually boil tea leaves in water for few minutes but followed your method to let it seep off the flame and it tasted different and better. I did not use Star Anise though. Best if luck with your career and Waiting to see more recipes..........

For the negative comments on her, Occasional criticism is ok for the right things but just continously bashing at everything a person does will not be appreciated by anyone.....People can see why someone is doing that.

I hoped Aarti would win and so I was ready whenever her show started. This tea isn't the first thing of hers I tried which wowed me, but it is the one that gets an excellent rating for reasons other than the usual criteria. Actually, I wanted to make the recipe as you did on the show, but it inspired me to try for your description of the tea crossed with my determination to stay on my diet. So, I let your TV presentation and my imagination coach me to a more simple, 40 calorie, 10 oz cup of warmth, comfort and perfection. Before you think I am not complimenting your tea, consider how wonderful it is that your inspiration sparked me and inspired me. That's why I won't miss you show ever.

This was the best chai ever!!!! Kalyani is a loser. Chopping the ginger would make the chai extremel strong. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG KALYANI. Chai is never ever pourned in milk, it's ALWAYS the other way round. noone is interested in your personal favorite. Just keep your recipes to yourself.

Aarti, you are the best. I've tried almost all of your recipes, they are really simple, delicious and I am sure many (including me are getting more comfortable with the Indian spices. keep the good recipies coming. We love your show Can't get enough of you and rememebr Kalyani is a loser!!!

As we were watching the show my husband jumped up saying "can I please have some chai, Aarti would want it that way" we waited for the commercials and then ran into the kitchen to make this delicous drink... Am not a tea drinker but my husband loves it and has 2-3 cups everyday..I do add a special touch to mine, once the tea is ready to create a nice froth on top I pour the chai from cup to cup about 3 - 4 times. ( Be careful not to spill any on yourself in the process. Am a indian and the smell was just what am used to and my husband being a american loved this version..

I am going to get thrashed for speaking my mind. (that happened in my last comment on the quinoa!
It was clear that Aarti has not much experience in making chai. It was as if she is making tea just to show the chai culture. It is easy to figure a coffee-person from a tea-lover.
The way the ginger coins were cut (instead of crushing the ginger. Also tea is always poured into the milk/cream instead of the other way round, for a rich hue.
My personal favorite is crushed ginger + a mix of milk and water boiled with jaggery (raw brown sugar and CTC Assam tea + cardamom added at the end.

Very delicious chai. I would have like a little stronger tea flavor. I couldn't find Taj Mahal tea so I used English breakfast tea. Next time I might use more tea or find a stronger black tea. Also I added some black pepper corns to mine.
