I love to watch Giada's show but feel this cookie recipe is a disappointment. I followed it exactly. Plus bought expensive dark chocolate and feel like I wasted the ingredients. Something seems wrong with the sugar measurement. Too bad they didn't test it better.

While I had to add a LOT more powdered sugar to get the dough to the proper firmness, they ended up turning out great. I decided to dip the entire patty in the chocolate and then add some fun Halloween sprinkles on top. I am storing them in the fridge!

If these do not turn out for you maybe you should follow the recipe exactly how it reads. I had absolutely no problem and followed the directions exactly. They came out great and tasted yummy.

Made three batches. None of them formed a stiff dough. Used different eg product and it still did not work. Wasted a lot of time and $$$.

There's a strong powdered sugar after taste that spoils the initial good start. Not a good representative sampling of this favorite candy, sorry to say!! I'm trying to find another recipe that more closely resembles the original. Anyone have one??

I live in Colorado, which has a very dry climate and this recipe worked extremely well. I believe Giada is in California which is also dry and probably made a difference in the consistency of the dough. Very yummy and will serve for my Halloween party!

I'd opt for drizzling orange icing on York Peppermint Patties, same flavor, much easier. They are VERY temperature-sensitive, as others have said, so they can't sit out. I just don't know any children the ages shown on her show that would actually eat these.

These patties were just like the York Peppermint Patties! I absolutely loved them, I took some to work and all the ladies loved them too. I too had to add more powdered sugar just to get the right consistency. But otherwise, A KEEPER! I will be making these again for sure :

I also had to extra sugar to get it to dough consistency. I also found that the patties softened very quickly at room temp and I had to store them in the refrigerator. But they tasted wonderful and I'd probably make them again, although next time, I'd probably chill them prior to dunking in the melted chocolate and I'd try to coat the whole patty.
