Well I've tried collards before and never had them taste this way. Buttery, silky, green. I'm so glad I have a reliable recipe now for this leafy veg. I did use the salt pork as directed maybe that made the difference.

Easy and delicious! I use a smoked ham hock instead of diced smoked ham. I cook the ham hock in the collard greens, take it out after an hour, let it cool, then dice it up and add it back into the greens. Very, very yummy!

Great recipe! I use applewood smoked thick cut bacon. Putting 2 cups chicken stock and 1 cup water in the greens really gives it a delicious flavor!

This is so close to what my Mama used to make that it made me miss home even more. I served it to all my Northern friends at Christmas dinner and now they know why the South is the best. Collard greens are hard to find in Canada so I used Swiss Chard. Not exactly authentic but very tasty just the same.

I make this dish ALL THE TIME now. My husband doesn't want any other greens! I have tried many other recipes and keep coming back to this one. One thing I change is the amount of vinegar. I only use 2-3 tablespoons, and that gives it a nice flavor without too much vinegar taste.

like the touch of vinegar. It added a ZING to it.
Definitely not a boring veggie dish.

excellent recipe! was a lttle bitter so i added sugar to taste. Also granulated garlic powder, onion powder, and chopped dry onion. Also a can of cannelini beans and grated parmesan! Wow! No vinegar.
