This is DELICIOUS gingerbread. Light and very moist, gets even better the next day or two! I will make this again and again! Thanks Nigella!

I was looking for a new gingerbread recipe to try, and was drawn to this one for its simplicity and the already stellar reviews. So, now I'm adding to that! Brought it up to work just before Christmas and everyone raved. Delicious! I couldn't find Lyle's at my grocery store, so I searched the internet for substitutions and the consensus was equal parts molasses and light corn syrup (so I used 1/2 cup of each. I ended up using light brown sugar on accident and I also used light sour cream. I used just a little extra on the spices, but I think I'm going to try 2 1/2 tspns of cinnamon and ginger next time, and a little extra on the cloves, too. I checked mine at 40 minutes and it was perfectly cooked. I plan to make it again for my family at Christmas!

Fabulous! Served this for Easter with a salted caramel frosting and everyone raved about it. Getting ready to make it again for our Christmas celebration and my family is eagerly awaiting it!

If you are looking for a very robust flavored, slap your face off gingerbread, keep looking. But if you are looking for a warm spice toned delight, you have found recipe perfection. The favors in this cake are very well balanced. I was worried about the addition of the beer, but not any longer. It just skyrocketed the recipe. This is a must try! If you don't like it, at least you'll have some great beer in the frig for later!

Amazing!!! So easy to make and really delicious. It is super moist and not overly sweet. I added orange zest (incredible to it and next time will add a bit more ginger too. I used a half cup molasses and half cup corn syrup instead of the golden syrup. Yummy! I'll definitely be making this again

The one i made is a little too dense and moist. Should a hand mixer be used to beat/whisk?
Thanks.

This was absolutly the best gingerbread I haver ever had! I added about two teaspoons minced candied ginger in addition to the powdered ginger and with the leftover guiness I made a caramel sauce to topp it with. I pared that with a little whip cream garnish and it was a great dessert that eveybody asked me to make again.

This is ridiculously good. Very tasty, moist cake. It was a hit with my family on St. Patrick's day. I found Lyle's at World Market. I also used a little extra ginger powder as others have mentioned. It was fairly easy to put together. My husband said to serve with whipped cream on top. I recommend this recipe to try out.

It is more like a cake than a bread but tastes wonderful. I would add more ginger also.

Very moist. I used 3/4c molasses & 1/4c corn syrup in place of golden syrup. Next time I will add a bit more ginger and maybe candied ginger too. Serve with pumpkin ice cream and caramel sauce!!!
