We just had this for Thanksgiving dessert. It's very good, especially the bread pudding and creme Anglaise. I agree with other reviewers that a it is a LOT of work, and b the combination is a bit sweet -- you may not need the caramel at all. But the dish was a hit and worth the time my daughter and I put in. Even my teenage son, who doesn't eat pumpkin pie, had two helpings.

I used the recipe for the custard and the directions for putting the pudding together. I made my own recipe for pumpkin bread and then instead of the recommended sauces made my own - Brandy Maple glaze. It was a hit!!!

OMG . . . absolutely the BEST DESSERT EVER. Many steps to prepare, BUT worth every bit of effort. I made this last Thanksgiving for our family gathering and there wasn't a speck left in the pan. This year the family has requested it again. WONDERFUL!!!!

I made this a week ago. I made everything in the recipe exactly how it is written. The carmel apple sauce was supper yummy! (my first time ever making homemade carmel! The creme anglaise was very yummy also. It took me two days to make. With all the separate recipes combined to make the Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Spicy Apple Sauce and Vanilla Bean Cream Anglaise...it was way to sweet for our taste. BUT I have made FOUR more loaves of bread since then. It is sooooo yummy! It is now my favorite pumpkin bread recipe! I am planning on making more this weekend to give to my neighbors. I top it with Vanilla Butter (just add 1tsp Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste to 4tbls of butter and it is just awesome. I can't stop eating it!

i made the bread pudding itself, did not do the sauces with it, too much time and expensive, but eh pudding was fantastic! my bf loves it! glad i made it. it was a little sweet for my taste, so next time i may cut down on the sugar in the bread itself. thanks bobby!

I made this over the weekend and it was fabulous. I didn't make the caramel sauce. I just thought it may have been a little too sweet for our tastes. The anglaise is amazing! I made the bread 2 days ahead of time and I toasted the bread in the oven longer than 20 minutes. That just didn't seem like enough. Probably closer to 35 minutes being careful to not burn and this seemed perfect. I didn't find this recipe labor intensive at all but I did find it expensive to make. 13 eggs in all but it was so worth it. My husband declared it the best dessert he ever had. I am giving it 5 stars because it was truly one of the best desserts I have eaten and not letting t he cost get in the way since this is a recipe you would really make for special occasions and not all the time.

Saw Bobby's Throwdown out in OK on Sat morning and thought the Pumpkin Bread Pudding would be the perfect dessert for my company dinner that night. Little did I know how much work it was going to be. Took me the better part of 4 hours to make the dish...guess that's because I didn't have all of Bobby's helpers LOL. HOWEVER, it is awesome! Just not sure I'll do it again because it is so labor intensive.
