Yum! I made this for a friend of mine who loves rice pudding and she was delighted. I used the vanilla extract instead of rose water and it was truly yummy.

We used this recipe for a dinner club gathering that we recently had.
Obviously our theme was Indian cuisine and this dish made a wonderful and easy dessert since the club member assigned dessert doesn't have a lot of time to cook. I would highly recommend it to anyone I know.

I've made this a few times, a smashing hit each time! Once I doubled the amount and somehow the flavors were a bit off (compared to the previous times when I had followed the recipe to the letter. Nonetheless, nobody seemed to have noticed except for me. An easy, easy recipe!

absolutely delicious. used 1/3c of sugar (1/2c would be way too sweet for me and wouldn't allow the delicate rose flavor to shine. added and a pinch of lemon zest and used sliced almonds for garnish only. used a wide, ceramic coated cast iron pot and stirred continuously w/ silicone spatula--no sticking, took about 35 mins. # of servings is more like 6 unless you're eating as much as a full serving of oatmeal.

This was fantastic! I am fortunate to live close to an Indian restaurant that has an adjoining Indian-food grocery store. They sell a 10 oz. bottle of rose water for $2, so I was really lucky to find that. Anyway, I followed the recipe and it all turned out fantastic! I used pistachios but will try almonds next time I make this...and there will be many next times.

I really enjoyed it. It is a recipe that is quite close the the local Indian Restaurants but I think this one is a bit better. Ate it hot and cold. Both were good. Only complaint is some of the rice stuck to my pot. I guess I did not stir it enough.

Thanks Aarti! This was amazing, and so easy too. The rose water made everything extra special. I used 1/2 cups of sugar and, although it was a bit on the sweet side, my husband I didn't think it was too much. I am definitely going to make this again!

Very tasty rice pudding. I LOVED the taste of the cardamom in this recipe. Thanks to the previous reviews, I limited my sugar to 1/3 and it was just right.Just a pinch more would have been too sweet. I didn't have any pistachios on hand as I made this recipe at the spur of the moment but I did add raisins and used the vanilla instead of the rose water. Nevertheless, the warm pudding tasted great. I can't wait to try it cold tomorrow!

Thank you Aarti, this turned out perfect! As recommended by previous reviewers, I decreased the sugar from 1/2 cup to 1/4 cup and it was great. To have it not be so sweet really helps you appreciate the great tastes of the cardamom and especially the rose water, however, next time (and there will be many next times, I may add just a bit more sugar--maybe 1/3 cup?
