This dish is very tasty and light. Being a middle eastern decent I didn't know what the ground masala was, once I bought and used it found out it's very similar to allspice if not better. Now I use it on every meal I make, it gives it a special taste. By the way my family loves this dish.

I used ground lamb (because I love it and mini pitas. I cooked them on a rack over a cookie pan so they wouldn't sit in fat. I did a tiny tester and found it not very flavorful so I added more garam masala and served it with home made tzatziki. They were wonderful. They also re-heat great in a toaster oven which is great as during the work week I prefer to re-heat leftovers that I made for the weekend.

This is yummy! The recipe doesn't specify what kind of beef to use, so I used ground chuck. I think next time I will try a less fatty beef, but the flavor was great! Definitely comfort food. :

I've made this twice already; that says something. We're a vegetarian family, so I always substitute a soy product for the beef. Works great.

I followed the recipe the first time and while they were pretty good, the pitas did get a bit soggy in some parts. Next batch I (1 doubled the garam masala, to really taste it, and (2 baked it on a rack. You don't need to turn them over when you bake them on a rack. Still place it over a cookie sheet to catch the bit of liquid that drips out of the pita packet. Next time I won't put oil on the bottom side, just on the top.
Five stars as it is an easy, tasty item that you can tweak to really satisfy your taste buds. Next time i might also try pork or ground lamb. Mmmmm!

This recipe was very nice. I loved the taste and it was quite easy to do. I made one substitution in that I used canned diced tomatoes instead of a fresh tomato, just because I'm not a fan of raw tomato. My pitas came out very crispy and the meat was really flavorful. I'll make this again.

Very nice, flavorful recipe that I will make again. I usually don't rate recipes unless I make them exactly as written, but I did make two -- I think inconsequential -- changes in this one. I used ground bison rather than beef because it tastes almost the same and has lots less fat. Also, instead of using four quartered large pitas, I used eight halved small pitas. It just seemed as if the small pita halves would contain the filling better. I cored and seeded the tomato, too, as another reviewer did. My only complaint is that the arayes weren't very crispy. I think that., even if you're careful, brushing on the oil deposits too much oil on the pita. Next time, I'll give them a light spray of olive oil nonstick and see if that works better. I do that when I roast a turkey or chicken, and the skin always comes out nicely browned and crisped. Let's see if that works on arayes.

Delicious! Made a batch on Sunday. Easy to take to work everyday and heat them up for lunch.

This recipe is by far one of the most delicious, I have ever made, not to mention one of the easiest! There is so much flavor and warmth! Even as leftovers, they are AMAZING!
