Wanted to get more beans into family diet so I decided to try Melissa's brownies, everyone who tried them didn't even know I put beans in them. We loved them! Will definitely make again, only will probably add walnuts.

These are great and I don't mind sending them in my kids' lunches on a regular basis. I've even added some prune butter to reduce the amount of oil needed in the recipe. Delicious and nutritious!

Good recipe--can't taste the beans--I used prepared dry beans but I think it would be great with canned also. I added nuts--I think that helped the brownies not seem so cake-like. I cut these into serving size pieces and froze them in sandwich bags--I just had one that I made a couple months ago and it tasted just like when made fresh.

What is great about these brownies is that you truly cannot taste the beans. That is key when feeding finicky eaters of which I feed three. However, the cocoa makes the brownies slightly pungent. I tried this recipe a second time omitting the cocoa and doubling the amount of melted chocolate chips I also used an entire can of black beans. MUCH BETTER! They came out considerably more smooth tasting and rich. Either way you try these...have a big glass of cold milk nearby!

Delicious!!! I can't tell there are black beans in them at all. I substituted unsweetened apple sauce for vegetable oil. Skipped the confection sugar and espresso. Even though a few reviews said not to, I used canned black beans. I soaked them really well in water before using. I think it helped. Will definitely be making these again.

These are the best brownies I have ever had! Way to go Melissa! DO NOT USE CANNED BEANS!! Use dried beans and follow the instructions on the package to clean/rinse/cook them. This will add a couple of hours onto the prep time, but they do not require much attention.
3/4C dried beans equals about 2C cooked.
These are worth it. :-

I did not care at all for this recipe. I could taste the beans, I used can black beans, rinsed very well (that could be the reason, maybe they needed to be fresh. I will not use this recipe. Sorry Melissa. I am looking forward to making the chicken pot pie that you make in this same episode.
