I liked them. Not too sweet. Gave to some moms and they liked it too. Haven't tried it on the kids yet. I did have a little issue with timing as the sides were done, but the center not at all - so I just didn't serve the center. Next time I'll keep in a little longer. Yummy.

I thought these brownies were excellent! They were very fudgy. I used full-sized chocolate chips because they were on sale, and it worked out fine. I also made it in an 8x8 pan, and I don't know if it affected it, but they took longer than 20 minutes.

These turned out to be good brownies. Not necessarily excellent, but solid. That being said, it isn't everyday that you find a way to make brownies healthier, so I applaud this recipe as a way to sneak in extra nutrients. The results were, as other users said, cake-like. I prefer my brownies to be a little more dense and fudgy, but these were still tasty, and I wouldn't hesitate to make them again if I were in the mood for a little chocolate cake. I will have to try another user's suggestion to make these with agave. I'll bet that would make them a little more dense. Not sure how some users got such poor results, but I did take someone's advice and baked them an extra 5 minutes. Overall, good recipe.

I did something very wrong with this recipe! Make sure if you try it to follow the recipe exactly. I want to give it another try sometime and use my blender instead of my stand mixer to prep it. Not sure if I overmixed the batter, but after about 50 minutes of baking the center was still liquid! :o( Fail for me, but the flavor was pretty good and the beans masked perfectly. Still love ya though, Melissa!

These brownies were VERY GOOD. The person who had a failure with this recipe had to have done something horribly wrong. Usually I could take or leave brownies. Not these. As for the nutritional info on these, I would doubt that the calorie count would to significantly less, but the other stats would have to improve immensely over those horrible boxed brownies. Way to go AGAIN, Melissa! Thanks!

These certainly aren't the best brownies I have ever had / made. But considering the increased nutrition, I thought they were pretty good. Like others, I did make some modifications. I used 1/2 splenda to cut the calories even more. However, I also used unsweetened chocolate for the liquid chocolate, so I should have added a bit more sugar & or splenda. I will make these again, but will add 1/3 cup of applesauce and see if it make them more fudgey. I agree with others they are more on the cakey side.

I couldn't imagine these being great with the black bean addition.
I was curious, so I made them today. I checked out the batter and it tasted yummy, so I baked them. Exactly 20 minutes and I had some light and delicious brownies to share with everyone.
What a great way to put fiber into a child's dessert.
I will surely pass this recipe on .

Loved them, but I would like to see nutritional values also.

Wife made them Sunday morning after the show and they were great. I read one of the reviews said the batter tasted bad. They must have made a mistake in the ingredients. I would like to see the nutritional values are making the changes.

I have seen other recipes for black bean brownies but I have never had the nerve to try them until I saw Melissa make them on her show today. Since I had all the ingredients on hand, I decided to give them a try. I followed the recipe exactly. It did take 27 minutes to bake thoroughly though instead of the 20 minutes per the recipe. She described these on the show as "rich and fudgy" which I thought wasn't quite right. They did have a great chocolate flavor but the texture was much lighter than traditional brownies - something I actually liked. When I served them to my husband I asked him what he thought the secret ingredient was and he could not tell. He was completely surprised that black beans were in them. We both thought they were delicious and love that they also had some nutritional value. I will definitely make these again.
