This was amazing, we converted the whole star anise to crushed, and added Thai peppers (6-7 to the broth and let all slow cook for 8 hours. I will be saving this recipe for the future and in fact am making it again today.

Fantastic taste! My hubby loved it!!! Very simple and very easy to make. I too did without the star anise because I didn't have it & couldn't find any in my local grocery store (I had to go to 2 stores just to get bok choy! and it was fantastic without it.

Very tasty. Even my two teenagers who are picky eaters gave this rave reviews. I did it without the star anise beacuse I couldn't find it and I used lo mein noodles. Very simple and it was ready in about 6 hours instead of the 8.
