tried to make the cookies today.....I find that 3-1/2 cups of flour was too much for the amount of butter used...3/4 pound...mixture was too mealy and wouldn't come together into a disk....too much flour in the recipe....

To the reviewer who said to add eggs - since when do you use eggs in a shortbread recipe? Ingredients are exactly as they should be.

FANTASTIC with lemon juice instead of water for the glaze! Or, add a little lemon zest to the glaze as well. Of course these shortbread cookies are so buttery and delicious...even plain! Thank you for this "go to" recipe I've been using since you were nice enough to give it to all of us. Thank you again!
