This was a big crowd pleaser, though personally I'm not a huge fan of Maria cookies (a little too bland for my palate. Thanks to those who wrote in and recommended using additional lime juice, as this made the cream set beautifully.

We really like this recipe. Very refreshing. I had no problems with it thickening. I use a Blendtec blender on the ice cream setting. It comes out extra thick and creamy right out of the blender everytime! I think the folks who are having difficulty with it setting probably need to process the mixture longer and possibly at a higher speed.

This recipe was delicious!! My family loooooved it and the next time I make it, I will use lemons for sure. My only complaint is that the measurements for the recipe were very vague. The next time, I will make sure to choose large limes in order to get more juice. I read some of the complaints about the recipe not setting right, and I do not understand how that can happen. I had good luck with the setting of the dessert and I even used low fat evaporated milk and my Trifle still set.

WOW this is awesome but only if you like key lime pie. Less than 5 bucks to make it and it takes about 10 minutes. Definitely one of those recipes I will keep on my front burner for pot lucks, pool parties, etc. Wish I had advice for those who can't get this to set. Make sure you are using both different types of canned milk. I heat my 3 limes in the microwave for 30 seconds to make them extra juicy. Med-small limes - about 2/3 cup of juice total. Pulse in a blend-tec or other high quality blender for 10 seconds. It starts to set-up in the blender.

I made two of Marcella's recipes today, the other was a bigger hit, but this was very good. SO easy, so much flavor. I had no problems at all, but did use more than 3 limes because mine were the small ones, and did whip it for a while in the stand mixes instead of the blender, it looked too loose after a few minutes so I continued and it thickened up.

Still, for my money I would like the crunch of the pie crust with the crackers, so I just served it with a maria cracker for everyone!

Made this for July 4th party and it was a hit! Thanks to all the reviewers for their help. I used 2/3rd cup lime juice and put it into the stand mixer for 10 minutes and it came out perfect!

I love this trifle. I was so excited to see it on TV I have been making this since I was like 7 years old but I had never used lime zest and it brightens up the flavor a lot. The reason why the crackers float is because they're not mixed in properly with the limes. I always use at least 5 limes and it stays nicely. If you notice that its floating when assembling it mix the milk and lime again until its nice and creamy. I usually add fruit cocktail or peaches and everyone loves it.

Really good. I was glad I read some reviews that said to make sure lime juice was at least 2/3 cup and to blend with both milks for several minutes. I used a brand of Maria cookies that was a bit smaller but was perfect in the trifle dish size I had, made 4 layers of cookies. Wish the cookies didn't get so soft but it was very good.

My mother used to make this when I was little. The cream is very sweet so I made 5 layers of cookies with thin cream layers. My husband loved it!!

Delicious, smooth, creamy -- perfect for a hot day. Luckily, I read the reviews first. Another reviewer gave a measurement of 5 or so ozs & that was my guide. It turned out that "small limes" were the perfect size-3 giving just under 6 ozs of juice. I made the recipe according to instructions in my blender. I had to do 2 batches because of the number of people. No problems with thickening on either batch. It was ready so quick. I learned about Maria cookies through another of Marcela's recipes & love them. Personally, I didn't like them layered in this recipe. Everyone else did, though. Next time I want a key lime pie, I'll make this recipe with Maria cookie crust & the lime cream as the filling. I want to take this opportunity to suggest to all cookbook writers/editors that measurements be given- ie 5.5 oz of lime juice instead of "3" limes on this and all recipes so there is more certainty that we have selected the right-size product.
