I really enjoyed this recipe! Now I hate when people give it five stars because of adjustments they made, however I ran low on canola oil and used 1/2 cup of olive oil. Super moist, great texture, I will make this again. I used the two teaspoons of cayenne and thought it added a very subtle spice.

I have been dissapointed by so many red velvet cake recipes... most of them are too bland, or don't turn out right. This one truly "takes the cake"!

This is a great recipe. Make sure to put ALL 2 teaspoons cayenne powder in the batter. Also may be able to back off the butter and increase the cream cheese in the frosting. These are great!!!

Love, love, love these cupcake! Used 1 teaspoon cayenne as I thought 2 teaspoons might be too much. They came out fantastic and everyone at work (my taste testers loved them too. Making another batch for Wear Red Day.

I LOVED these cupcakes!!! I tend to lean towards the different and these fall in that category. I did cut back on cayenne pepper after reading reviews, but won't the next time I make these. They were very moist and the flavors are awesome. I really enjoy the sweetness of the bite and the fiery sensation that comes on after swallowing it. I had some 'Hot Damm" cinnamon schnapps in my liquor cabinet (where it came from and how long it was there ???? that I used in the frosting..excellent addition.
These have definitely become one of my favorites!

Well, they looked delicious! But that amount of cayenne pepper is too much-don't expect kids to be able to eat it-I was highly disappointed!

My husband is sensitive to cayenne pepper so I cut the called for amount in half. That with the cinnamon in the cake still gave it a noticeable kick. I left the frosting as is and the completed cupcake is simply divine! Every time I make these for friends and family, they absolutely RAVE about them and say it's probably one of the best cupcakes they've ever had. I have to agree. Definitely one of my favorites!

This cupcake is awesome. It came out alittle spicy but that is the whole thing about the fiery part. It meets the concept of the cupcake. I wonder how someone can make a cupcake so wonderful as yours. That cupcake was deliciouse so I recommended it to my whole family and friends. They all tryed the cupcake and they liked it too. They said the same thing as me about it being spicy but it really meets the concept. And also I love spicy foods. I already said when I grow up I will start making cupcakes for people. I love watching the show cupcake wars everday it is on. I never missed an episode. When I grow up I need to get ideas from you guys so I can be on the show CUPCAKE WARS! Thank you for the wonderful cupcake.

Based on reviews I reduced cayenne to 1 ¾ tsp. Reduced oil to 1 ¼ cup and used grape seed oil (what I had and it is tasteless instead of canola. Cupcakes were plenty moist. Used ½ oz red food coloring. Used red food coloring in the frosting . Used Goldschlager cinnamon schnapps in a tiny bottle. I could probably do the recipe 2x with it. Frosting was not runny .You have to use your judgment as to how much liquid and sugar to add. Piped the frosting with a star tip and used one red hot candy on the top of each it was beautiful. Made these for my brother's birthday since he likes hot/spicy things. People were intrigued with them and I got many questions as to the ingredients. Overall, I think people liked them and a guest asked if he could take some home to his wife. Although I know red hots are not for everyone they were well received and eaten up by all. Frosting was the best part and not as good without. I suggest decreasing the cayenne in the cakes to make them palatable to all.
