Fantastic! I've made this twice since the show aired! I went easy on the red pepper flakes because one of my kids doesn't like a lot of heat, and we skipped the giardiniera. I also cooked this in a slow cooker after browning it. It turned out perfectly!

I have made this twice in 3 months, and it is so good. I have not made the Giardiniera, but it was still good with just the green peppers! More Sandwich King please!

Following the recipe for the roast exactly, it produced an excellent result. When it came time to build the sandwich, I used store bought Giardiniera (mild not hot and roasted sweet red peppers (instead of green in jars instead of making them from scratch. (Sometimes I use the Sandra Lee approach to cooking. The sandwiches turned out fabulous!

Very tastey sandwich, I chose to cook the pot roast at 225 in a cast iron dutch oven all day and it was very tender and flavorful. The Giardinier is the right touch to this sandwich.

Lots of flavor. Tender, juicy meat. Lots of jus if you cook in slow cooker after browning everything in pot. Giardiniera was so crunchy when made fresh. I will never buy bottled stuff again. Thanks, Jeff. You brought back to me a "taste of Chicago"!!

I married this recipe with a recipe from Cuisine at Home. I like the Italian seasoning from here plus the bay leaves from C@Home. I lightly sauted onion, carrots, celery and then smashed garlic cloves AFTER browning the roast. Prepared a roux in the same pot, 1 stick butter, 1/2 cup flour, then added and cooked the two tbsp tomato paste. Added redwine, worcestershire, three cups beef stock, brought to a simmer. Veggies and beef back into the pot and into the oven. The gravy is seriously awesome after draining off the fat.

Born and raised in Chicago, I had high hopes for this recipe and it did not disappoint. Really easy to put together and the depth of flavor was amazing. I would even make this pot roast by itself without the rolls it tasted that good. Agree with the other reviews that it was salty, but I'll just be a little less heavy handed when seasoning next time. Will make again, often.

My wife works third and I work first shift. This is an amazing dinner and welcome treat at lunch time for us both! Make it ahead on time and take a home cooked meal to work.

We loved everything about this recipe, down to the Hot Giardiniero, will be a repeat sandwich in this house, thinking great for Super Bowl . Course a great roll is essential. Drain off most of oil through straining spoon before heaping on sandwich though.
