I made this dish all summer, using fresh tomatoes, basil, & parsley from my garden. A wonderful side dish. I found that I liked the flavor better when using about half the amount of oil. I've read some of the reviews - yes, the brown sugar is great with this. Don't leave it out.

Followed Ree's instructions exactly, however I saved about 1/2 of the dressing for another time/use. I used a high quality balsamic, which was quite thick -- that might be a key to the success. For those who object to the brown sugar, without it, it would just be another balsamic vinaigrette. This was so good, we used a spoon at the end to finish off the marinade!

Our grocery store had Nature Sweet Cherry tomatoes on sale this week for $1 (usually $2.99 so I tried this recipe using them. They were large so I just cut them in half and I used a very high quality balsamic vinegar. The brown sugar was a nice addition without being overly sweet. I accidentally omitted the olive oil and it wasn't missed at all. We loved this recipe and will surely make it again. It was very easy to make and would compliment most proteins i.e. beef, pork, poultry & seafood. I actually served it with Vegetable Chow Mein.

Cut the recipe in half for (2 people. I was skeptical about the brown sugar but it was great. I had fresh basil from my garden but no parsley, it was fine without. I also added cucumbers. Very nice, refreshing salad but above all quick and simple. Try it.

not bad, but there was way too much oil and it wasnt all that flavorful of a dressing.

I have never made a marinated tomato salad before but the brown sugar had me curious. I am in love! So refreshing and a nice change from tomatoes drizzled with EVOO & Balsamic. I loved the herbs but those tomatoes were bursting with flavor. A new favorite dish of mine and a great way to use up the massive amount of tomatoes from the garden!

AWE.SOME. These are so good! I made them this morning and we had them with our lunch. Our lunch guests asked me to print out the recipe for them. They are fantastic! Loved the flavor, although I had to used dried herbs because it's all I had on hand. I'm sure the fresh herbs would put it over the top!!! We will be making these again and again--it's the most wonderful way I can think of to use up lots of our home-grown tomatoes!
