we came home from church and caught the tail end of the sandwich king. we saw you build this sandwich. it looked amazing. immediately after the show, we got the ingredients and had a family cook session in the kitchen. we have children 14, 11, and 9. the directions were clear and simple enough for us all. we spread the ingredients out in the middle of the table and all had fun building. the layers of flavor were such a delight. the garlic chips were a condensed wonder. we felt like we were eating out at a restaurant. my oldest son who doesn't like sandwiches cannot wait until next week. perhaps we will all end up in the kitchen again :

I am so glad that "The Sandwich King" won. He was the only candidate that week after week I would say "I would watch his show".
Sandwich looked fantastic on plate and tasted delicious.

I am writing this review PRIOR to making the sandwich. Why? To let Food Network know that this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review - this recipe and show appealed to me THAT MUCH. This show today made me HUNGRY immediately after breakfast! Chef Mauro's presentation was instructive and fun, and the way he puts food together in the sandwich brought back memories of a steak and sauteed spinach meal at Smith and Wollensky's in NYC; and now my husband and I are about to go to the grocery store to get the ingredients, and it will be dinner! Will review it again after making it, but can't imagine it wouldn't be dynamite. Glad to have Chef Mauro on board with meals that are somewhat 'less' than the complex, complicated, many ingredients recipes that are, while delicious, often too time consuming to make. This one we can do! And no, I don't know Jeff Mauro personally at all - just happened to catch this show!
