We have been making this my whole life. We always add season all to the top. Its funny what people call this and how many people have never seen it. Love mine a little runny.

There are many names for this and I'd like to add mine: Sunshine Toast! My kids love this for breakfast, adding corn syrup and powdered sugar to the top! Wow, thanks bringing this to the table again!

Butter, bread, and egg. Can't go wrong with this recipe. Watch out though, the egg can POP. It might have just been me or the new oven I'm getting accustomed to. At the time, I had my face right in front of the egg yolk before it exploded butter and egg yolk on my face. Still tasted great and will make again.

My parents have been making this breakfast for thirty years. Paula Deen even did this in one of her eps a few years ago. It's always delicious as we cook the bread buttered on both sides like texas toast but this is no way an original recipe. Just a repeat of a classic.

My kids LOVE egg in the whole on our cast iron skillet. They can smell it from their rooms and come out in excitement for it. SO good!

I've been making these for years only called them "Toad in a Hole". They are a time saver b/c you don't have to make toast and fry eggs separately, it's all one process. I always toast the "Hole" cut out piece of bread for a little extra dipping. :
