Delicious! My two year old son loved it and so did my husband and I. I would make this for guests.

So much fun for the kids! I used shell pasta I had on hand (went great with the name, Pirate pasta, too! and added peas. The fun thing is the peas settled inside the shells. The kids are still at the table "looking for treasures" in their Pirate pasta. Thanks for sharing this creative dish to make dinner time fun tonight! P.S. I served it with "Pirate's Gold" aka. "corn"

I first made this dish upon our return from Tuscany. If I were on death row, I would request this dish as my last meal. yeah. It's that good. Use the Italian tuna and don't be afraid of the oil. Just drain it well. But be sure to use the Italian tuna. I can't emphasis it enough. It makes the dish. I did use black olives rather than the green but that is only because that's what I had on hand. Otherwise, I followed it to the letter and OMG I'm glad I did. Yum!

    This was AMAZING!

My husband and I LOVED it.

I can't have gluten so I made it with gluten free pasta and it was just as good. I also can't have dairy, so I left out the cheese. Didn't miss it. It has so many flavors in it, you don't miss anything! And we LOVE basil in this house, so we put a LOT of basil on the top of ours. Delicious!

The only thing I would mention is that it is a tad salty, but that's to be expected with the olives and capers, and then putting the salt in. Next time I might not put as much salt as I did this time, but it was still extremely delicious.

Should also mention that 1/4 cup olive oil is a tad much. We only used the regular 2 tablespoons and that was really all that was needed.

Will definitely be making this again and again!

I made this yesterday and really enjoyed it. I wish I could get my family to eat tuna, but unfortunately they will not. Next time I might try it without the tuna for more of a crowd pleasing meal. I will definitely be making this again!

I would say that it is okay. It is pretty tasty, but I am needing something to brighten up the pasta, since it is quite heavy. I did squirt some lemon juice on top and that helped.

I made a vegetarian version of this dish (omitted tuna & used vegetable broth instead of chicken broth with whole wheat penne and it was just fantastic! The sauce is spicy and thick and is delicious with the mushrooms and olives. I will absolutely make this again, thanks Giada!

This is my go-to lunch or dinner recipe. I have a gluten intolerance and I also am a very healthy eater so I have re-made this recipe to fit my diet and it is pretty dang amazing it is as follows:

    Pirate pasta for one:
Ingredients--- 1 bag tofu shiritaki noodles (fettuccine or macaroni shaped, 1 tsp. evoo, 1 portobello mushroom cap chopped, 1 tsp garlic minced, 5 green olives sliced, 1 tbsp tomato paste, 1-1/2 tsp capers, pinch or two red pepper flakes, 1 can light tuna in water, chicken stock, dried/fresh basil, salt and pepper

Follow the same directions of original recipe except prepare the noodles by draining them and drying them with paper towels, omit the cheese step and toward the end of the sauces cook time add the noodles and heat all together for about five minutes.

This entire recipe only has 240 calories and lots of protein...I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

    -Happy cooking

Absolutely delicious and flavorful. This dish got rave reviews. Very hardy for not containing meat. Be careful with the salt because a lot of the ingredients are salty.
