This cake is fabulous. Made it today for company coming for dinner tonight. Had to try it right away, and it's delicious !! its perfect !! Just hate for my guests to see a piece missing !! Will make this awesome cake again and again !! Thanks Paula !! Can't wait to have a second piece after dinner !! I believe the people who left bad reviews did not follow the recipe properly. This cake Couldn't be more perfect.

Awesome!!! I made this cake after my in-laws called to give it to me 3 weeks ago. They know I love to bake. It was delicious. My husband who isn't a big sweets lover, LOVED this cake. He loved it so much that he ate 3/4 of the cake in 2 days and the other 3 of us had to share the remainder. He's since requested it twice since then and says it's one of the best cakes he's ever had. I'm telling you this is incredible heated up in the morning to have with a great cup of coffee. I drizzled the top with Paula's caramel sauce. I made the recipe exactly as directed and had no issues at all.....just a perfect cake that was oh so delicious! It'll be a staple on our holiday dessert table with coffee nearby. A perfect combination.

The idea of the cake held so much promise but failed to deliver. It tasted very eggy and the batter was super wet. I cut the sugar to 3/4 of a cup so maybe that's why. the cake just never came together. The top crust is good but the interior texture and sides were forgettable. Much better refrigerated with butter on it but I wouldn't make it again.

OK so...its 2:18 am here in Chicago, I decided to make this easy cake for my husband as a surprise for his breakfast in the morning....allow me to tell you this: the batter smelled so good I tasted it, I then had to grab a huge glass of ice cold milk so that I could continue to lick the bowl. I cannot wait until its done, it totally smells divine!

I have made this cake several times with a few "tweeks". I used 1 c of sugar and 1 c light brown sugar. I also used 1/2 the coconut and added chocolate chips. I substituted half & half for the milk and added a couple tablespoons of sour cream. It turned out great.
