Seriously, this is the best green bean casserole I've ever eaten - possibly The Best Thing I've Ever Ate "vegetable dish" - a real crowd pleaser!!!! Made this the week before Thanksgiving to make sure it was good enough for the Family - couldn't stop eating it and everyone raved about it at the official Thanksgiving Feast

This was a hit! I did not use a cast iron pan just a glass baking dish. I used Brussels sprouts instead of green beans, did everything else by the recipe, and it was awesome. I even converted a few Brussels haters.

Everyone loved it on Thanksgiving! Never make another crappy canned green bean casserole again! I bought a cast iron skillet just for this recipe and I recommend using one too. I made everything in the morning and put the whole thing in the fridge so I could just pop it in the oven on Thanksgiving night. It does have a little kick to it. Reduce the cayenne if you don't enjoy that. YUM!

I made this for Thanksgiving instead of the "traditional" canned green bean casserole with FF onion rings and it was awesome! The mushroom sauce is "to-die-for" and I think I will use it for pasta as well. I would just caution you that the cayenne gives a bit of a kick, so if you don;t like spicy you may want to reduce. Also, I did fry the shallots and it was a lot of work but worth it. Next time, though I think I will put some kind of liquid on the shallots before dredging them because the flour didn't stick that well. The bottom line is that the whole family is converted and this is the new "Green Bean Casserole". Thanks Guy & Hunter!

Thanksgiving dinner will never be the same with this awesome casserole! I will never open a can of Cream of Mushroom soup ever again to make Green Bean Casserole!

This recipe was awesome. Made it for Thanksgiving with our rack of lamb and will make it again & again! What flavor it had! I never made the one with soup - but have tried other variations that were meant to be improved from the old standby. This topped the list. I need to look no further. Thanx for the depth of flavor you cook with and impart to all of us!

OMG Guy, this was so awesome and a great hit at my Thanksgiving table this year! My hubby had to have a cup of the soup before I could get the green beans in! I will NEVER use condensed mushroom soup again. We have already planned on all the different recipes we can use this soup with. Thanks Guy, you ROCK! Definately a keeper!

My fiance does not care for the typical green bean casserole. I made this dish and it was awesome! The home made mushroom gravey really takes the dish to the next level. Not nearly as salty as the "traditional" casserole using canned condensed soup. The shallots are sooo flavorful. Loved it Guy. Thank you!
