I was a little skeptical about this recipe, but I wanted a quick caramel sauce for over ice cream so I tried it. It tasted more like butterscotch than a proper caramel but it was really delicious warm and after it had chilled. Very quick and no chance of burning it like a traditional caramel. It won't replace homemade caramel sauce but I will have this recipe handy if I need a quick sweet sauce. Nice job, Ree.

This was good and fairly quick, though I did have to double the time ( cooked about 15 min. to get it to thicken at all, and I did add about 1/2 tsp. salt for more flavor. I make a brown sugar shortbread cookie at Xmas and this sauce actually tasted more like that cookie than an real caramel, which was disappointing, but it was still pretty tasty over ice cream. And it made my house smell like Xmas in June!

I'm surprised I didn't go into a diabetic coma. It's EASY that's for sure but good grief it was sweet. And I LOVE sweet, but this was over-the-top.

After I tried to attempt a caramel sauce for a cake that i was making, and burnt it, I have been very intimidated by caramel sauce... but this was SO EASY! will definitely be using this again - and maybe even adding a bit more salt next time!

I have been looking for the perfect sauce for my salted caramel cupcakes and have tried several. They never thicken and they have no flavor. This recipe was very easy and thickened up like it should. It's delicious on the cupcakes and looks like it would work well over ice cream. I did cook it a little longer than the instructions said to, but I am also using a new cook top and didn't think it was cooking quite as hot as it should.

Groovy-licious!!! Very easy to make & it's soooooo good!!! It not only goes with the apple pie (as suggested but it goes very well with brownies, pound cake & vanilla ice cream. Drizzle it on a plain biscotti too!!

Although easy to make it really didn't taste like caramel. It was more like a brown sugar sauce. The sugar just doesn't really completely dissolve because of the lack of liquid so it is a bit granular. Has a nice brown sugar flavor though. I too had to add more half & half. Great sauce in a pinch but for me it just doesn't have a caramel taste. I'd use it in another capacity. Family thought it was just okay.
