Enjoyed this simple and tasty treat. I'm so glad I stuck with the recipe and used wheat bread. It gave the dish a "heartiness" for a dessert.

Delicious! Easy! Scrumptious! It's a stick to your ribs kind of dessert. A keeper!

Excellent!!! I usually follow the ingredients, but this time I used what I had in the house. I made 1/2 the recipe and used about 3+ cups of cubed French baguette, 2 1/2 Cortland apples, a little less than 1/2 c. brown sugar (that was plenty. Any more would have been much too sweet, & 1 stick of butter :- . I then sprinkled 1/4 c water over the surface. I forgot to add the cinnamon as some people suggested when I baked it. When I took it out of the oven I didn't think it looked like it was going to be good, however it was excellent. I did sprinkle some cinnamon on top at that point because the Apple Brown Betty didn't LOOK that good, but it tasted very good.

It's a very delicious dessert and a good recipe to use up those apples and bread. My husband who doesn't like desserts with apples Loved it. I did a few adjustments to the recipe,I added Walnuts, Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips and I reduced the amount of Brown Sugar (apples are sweet and I did not want it to be super sweet, I used regular sub bread (that's what I had and I mixed all of the ingredients together instead of layering ( I think it makes it more flavorful that way. I will be making it again for sure :

Another Sunday came I made your recipes again. My dad came down for dinner as he always does on Sundays and my mother in law. They all ate it up. My dad loved it. When he left he took the rest of it home. Thanks again for another great one.

OK, I wrote a review just after I had put this in the oven, and I guess I will stick to the 4 stars. In all fairness, I didn't know what to expect because I had never made one of these before. The best way I'd describe it is sort of like a bread putting without the custard. If you forget abougt the 2 sticks of butter, you can sort of call it a healthy bread pudding lol. Seriously, flavor was good not sure I'd make it again just because I'm not a big fan of bread pudding. But if you are a fan of bread pudding type things, give this one a shot. It's really easy and pretty inexpensive. Next, I really do want to try her flat apple pie.
