This is the BEST brownie recipe EVER! I'll never look at brownies the same way again! I do think next time I just may buy the caramel sauce, but it was so good. The whole pan lasted less than 12 hours in my house.....needless to say they are amazing, but I won't be making them too often.

Divine! A couple of easy swap outs: use one can of "Dulce de Leche" (from the "Hispanic" aisle in place of the caramels (unwrapping those suckers can be time consuming. Heat up the Dulce de Leche in the microwave for about 45 seconds (and thin with a tablespoon or two of the evaporated milk if necessary. Save the pecans for the same layer as the caramel and chocolate chips---it makes the brownie layers easier to spread! Thanks, as always, Ree for taking simple ingredients and combining them in new and unique ways to keep our bellies (and our hubbies so happy!

The brownies were awesome! I could not find caramels at the store but so I bought an 11 oz. package of Kraft caramel bits. I decreased the evaporated milk I put with the caramels to 1/4 cup. The top layer did not go on well but still tasted great. Next time I will try chilling the dough I'm going to use for the top after I spread it out. I will definitely make these again!

These should come with a warning, totally addictive! Make sure to keep 2nd half cold as it is easier to deal with for the topping. I also pressed it out on a thin flexible cutting board and it was much easier to put on top. Sooo good!

Fantastic - however.... the recipe calls for 60 caramels - the bags only come in 48 - do NOT give them to your husband to unwrap - I have no idea how many I was left with and my caramel sauce was WAY to runny - spooned out 4 tbsp of evaporated milk!! I also highly recommend using the wax paper when doing the second layer of brownies! And .... there is NO way I'm getting naked after eating these!! haha!!
