Love, love, love these brownies. To make the top layer a little easier, I placed some plastic wrap in the bottom of the baking dish and pressed half the dough out evenly. Then I pulled on the wrap and lifted it out. I put it in the fridge to firm up a bit and it worked out fine and was really easy to place on top during the last step. These brownies are definitely rich, so small pieces are the way to go. I sent a batch of these with my granddaughter going back to college and she said the kids went crazy over them.

These brownies are absolutely restaurant quality brownies! We all loved them for Valentines day.
The only recommendation I can give is to serve warm after they have set up. We also put a scoop of vanilla icecream on top ,,OMG FABULOUS!!!!

First off, how can something with choclate, nuts, butter, and nuts taste bad? The taste was for sure there but we thought they were overkill... only could take a couple bites... almost like eating fudge. When I have a dessert I want to eat the whole piece. Mine also came out a little dry in the corners and thicker ... did not look thin and pretty like the picture. There are alot better brownie recipes out there.

I am on my second batch of these this week! A bag of caramels works just perfect. It's a little tricky getting the second layer of brownie on there in one piece, but it all bakes together in the end. Highly recommend these.

love love love this recipe. I do not make desserts, but thought I would try these for superbowl. It is very easy to make, practically foolproof, and they came out fantastic. Best brownies ever.

These have to be some of the best brownies I have ever had. I made them with the intention of giving most of them away but as soon as my husband tried them he only let me give 2 to my parents and we kept the rest. I read some other reviews that said 60 caramels was too much but I think it was just right. I did add a few extra chocoate chips, maybe about a 1/2 total. I will definitely be making these again!

I live in Dayton, Ohio and Dorothy Lane Market's (DLM killer brownies, which is what Ree modeled her recipe after according to her blog and show, are simply the best! They have different varieties, but these look like the original killer brownies. I made these brownies and have to admit that they are quite like DLM's killer brownies. I did find out that they are more like killer brownies the next day, so I would recommend making them the day before.

My kids and I unwrapped the caramels the day before I made them. I cut each one in half (my bag had 48 and put in a zip lock bag. Made the process of making the brownies much faster. I used a 11 by 7 pan and the first layer sunk down all around except the sides as if to create a bowl for the melted caramels! It was perfect as i had no oozing or mess. I took other viewers advice and started the melting process before any thing else. Good call! Did not use nuts, maybe next time I will sprinkle some on half of the mix with the chocolate chips for the nut lovers in my family. I baked first layer for 8 minutes and second layer 20 min. Came out moist and yummy. By the way I used the 15 0z box of another brand as my store only carried the 1 lb box with frosting included and much more expensive. Everything came out perfect! Thanks for sharing Ree as I had not ever heard of this recipe before like other viewers have.
