Definitely spicy!! I used half the amount of peppers because I have guests that don't enjoy too much spice and sauce was still hot. Like another reviewer suggested, deseed if you can. My can of peppers had the seeds mixed in so it was hard to take them out. Otherwise this is a great sauce.

Wish you could give 10 stars, I have NEVER had a recipe from Ree that wasn't good...I will say though for Memorial Day we were having about 20 guests for our Bang in the BBQ season party. I had seen Ree's show that was showcasing her "Spicy Pop Pulled Pork" and it called for Adobo sauce....well I had never seen it at my store but I did finally find it (why I didn't look here what a DUMMY, anyway being what I think is a good chef I try everything first and after tasting that store bought Adobo sauce OMG YUK YUK YUK, is was sooooo NASTY, So then I looked here and Emeril had a recipe with "homemade" Adobo sauce and it was delicious!!!! Used it in Ree's recipe and it was GREAT, and this sauce WONDERFUL as well, BUT make your own Adobo sauce, it is really easy and spices you will most likely have on hand...thank you AGAIN Ree for another AMAZING recipe, You are the BESTEST!!!!

The best barbecue sauce ever - a keeper - easy, tasty and my family love it. Before, I tried this recipe I always had a problem with any barbecue sauce, but this one made me love making it.

De seed the chipotle peppers if you can. That is my only suggestion. It was very tasty and easy to make. It is a keeper, Memorial Day 2013 Summer Kick Off...

Made this, the first time, with 4 other sauces to serve at a party with smoked pork - ran out of this one before the others were even 1/3 of the way gone. . .This has turned into my go-to recipe; it's easy, quick, and uses ingredients that I normally have on hand. It is easy to adjust the spice by using more, or less, of the chipotles. Outstanding recipe Ree!

This is by far the BEST BBQ sauce I have ever had, hands down. I've made it a couple of times and found that red onion adds a deeper flavor than a white onion but both add something different to the sauce. This makes a really nice hostess gift presented in Ball jars. Awesome sauce!!!
