So far I am not impressed. They are now in the oven but they were very sloppy dough and need at least a half cup more flour. Probably bett with just large eggs and not extra large.
    Beware!!!

These strawberry shortcakes are the lightest and sweetest that I have ever made, absolutely fabulous! I added the egg and cream mixture very gradually with the mixer on the lowest setting and turned it off as soon as the last of the liquid went in. I gathered the dough and kneaded it gently, just twice, to mix the last of the flour in and then rolled it out on a well-floured silicone mat. It was very easy to work with. Sprinkled large grain 'sugar in the raw' over the egg wash and baked exactly 15 minutes. Grand Marnier added just a hint of orange and even the out-of-season strawberries were delicious. This was a practice run for company...I can't wait to re-make it and serve it!

Soooooo good! I saw this on yesterday's show and I had to try it my self. It turned out amazing!!! Just the little biscuits are wonderful on their own flufiness goodness, add the strawberries and cream, and this turns out to be absolutely delightful.

One tip, I put my butter in the freezer for a while to make it extra cold.

This recipe was nothing special in my opinion. I followed the directions to a tee- even though I thought a full teaspoon of kosher salt was too much- and I thought they tasted like any other shortcake, including those that are less trouble to make and less calories (no eggs, less butter and cream. I say look through the food network options- there are better ones . . and yes, a full teaspoon IS too much salt!!

This was a HIT! Everyone loved it and how they could take a bite of the shortbread and then dip the strawberries in the whipped cream. I will definitely be making this recipe again. Thank you Ina, once again.

Delicious! I made this for a party and everyone enjoyed it! The batter is very sticky but worth the effort.

This was fabulous. At the location I'm at, I didn't have a stand-up mixer, so I used a hand mixer. The dough was crumbly, not sticky, but I worked with it as I rolled it out. Also, my shortbread cooked in only 14 minutes...I should have checked them after about 12 minutes because the bottoms were darker than I would have liked. The butter from the shortbread leaked all over the pan. They tasted great though!

Delicious! Served in martini glass- presents even better in person than on TV (and it looked beautiful on TV. A show stopper dessert. I made all the components earlier in the day, and assembly was quick and easy later on. Before we ate it, we crumbled the shortbread on the top to get all the flavors in one spoonful.
