Mine fell apart just as was stated in other reviews. After frying several, I got out my non-stick pan and only enough oil to coat the bottom. I was able to fry the rest that way and then put them in a 450 degree oven to finish them. IF I make them again I will add more floor and an egg and make them smaller so they cook faster.

I noticed that they pulled the recipe from the list on today's rerun. I think the problem is the "six potatoes". Size of spuds varies and a more exact measurement might have prevented all of the failures.

I was excited to try this recipe only to be let down. i followed the dierctions & they fell apart. I even added an egg & more flour but they still turned into a fried mashed potato patty :(

I wish there was a rating for zero stars. I am normally a big Pioneer Woman fan and have had success with everything I've made of hers, but these were a HUGE FAIL!!! They fell apart as the others have said. I tried using less oil and they just burned. When I tried to flip them, the crunchy brown coating fell off. I was really disappointed because they looked so yummy on the show and I thought it would be a great alternative to store bought tots.

I followed the recipe and after froming I chilled the patties overnight. I tried to deep fry only to have them turn to mush. I then tried to fry then in oil in a frying pan, they too turned mush.
I feel something was missing from the recipe, either an egg or more flour

I thought they were wonderful!! I added an egg, and a little more flour along with Head Country seasoning salt(not sure if you can get it anywhere but Oklahoma, and a little pepper. I took standinglynx's advice and used the spray in my hands and that worked great!! I however used my fry daddy instead of doing in a cast iron b/c I don't have one.

I found that the key to keeping them from crumbling was to spray your hands with no-stick cooking spray before you roll them out in your hands. I added more flour and a beaten egg, minced onion and garlic powder. I heated my oil to about 375. Once I figured out what was causing them to crumble, they were great. Also, don't flip them before they're ready, kind of like a fried egg and use a slotted spatula.

I know these are supposed to be fabulous but what am i doing wrong? my potato patties are disolving in the oil before they get a chance to fry. I waited till they were cool; I even tried dusting them with flour and changing the temp of the oil. A total flop. so bummed because they look so totally yummy
