To the Joseph character. Where I'm from you DON'T add carrots and all that stuff to Chicken and Dumplings! Every family has their own recipe and add-ins when cooking. Did you even try the recipe or did you just jump on here to be rude?

We added more salt/pepper, poultry seasoning and thyme. I think it's a great start for the recipe though.

This was the first time I ever made them myself. I have to say I did do some tweeking...but it was wonderful very easy and very tasty. I added onion, celery, garlic and salt, pepper and bay leaf to the stock..my husband loved it and that is all that matters thanks for sharing this will now be in my family traditions

I really like the ease of this recipe. I watched the episode and in just a little while i'm eating chicken & dumplings. I added fresh marjoram and thyme to the broth for flavor. loved the simplicity of the dumplings. since people generally like different flavors you can make this any way you like it! being from texas I really wanted to add green chili's...maybe next time.

Actually the review from josephsalm8017 was "spot on". It was the negative connotation which ruined his comments! Not everyone has the same tastes. That's why you take a recipe and make it your own by changing it to your likes. I think this recipe, along with the suggestions from others, could possibly be the best CnDs I've ever had! I'm constantly searching for the best CnD recipe my family will like.

Just give it a low star. Don't need your negative remarks. I added the spices I wanted.

This is a great recipe. I did add a little of the chicken broth to the dumpling mix like others suggested and it was very flavorful. When I boiled the chicken, I added some bay leaf, carrots, celery, and onions for flavor and a little bit of ground chicken bouillion. It made the broth even more tasty. I will make this recipe again.

Bland, Bland, Bland. I have never heard of anyone making a chicken stock without the usual carrots, celery, or onions. No flavor. And, the dumplings made without egges??? No seasonings at all. The deviled eggs could really use a dash of hot sauce as well. I have to say that the coconut cake was exceptional. Way to go.

Trisha, my Grandmother, also from Oklahoma, used to make her chicken and dumplin's very similar. She had 10 children who would bring their families together into her small home at the holidays. Grandma loved it when all the younger girls used to beg to help make this traditional dish.. This is the first time I have seen a recipe so close to hers. Differences are, she adds a little crisco in her dumplin mixture with salt and pepper. Additionally she adds 1/2 cup of heavy cream to her chicken broth to give it one more layer of that homey comfort flavor. These are not meant to be low fat, just good reminders of fire warmed holidays with all the family gathered!
