I'm tickled pink to see this recipe on FN's website! I'm an Alabama girl, and the only difference between Trisha's and my Mama's mashed potatoes is that Mama's (now my recipe call for Yukon Gold potatoes. I think this recipe is an excellent example of traditional Southern cooking - most specifically the Deep South/Southeastern regions. Good stick-to-ya-ribs food doesn't require dozens of ingredients, that's the beauty of dishes like this one. That said, ofcourse additions can be made. To keep everyone happy, I serve a variety of toppings or add-ins (bacon, shredded cheese, chives, etc. in small bowls along side my mashed potatoes. Thanks Trisha for sharing your recipe!!
