These were delicious! The panko bread crumbs did get a little soggy, so I made a new batch of panko and oil. I was more careful to drain the excess buttermilk mixture before breading. They were crunchy and flavorful. I used vidalia onions.

I also had the problem of the panko turning to mush and not sticking to the onion. Don't think I'll make these again.

Not good! The first couple rings worked fine but after that the Panko bread crumbs turned into a sticky, gloppy mess and would not stick to the onion rings no matter what I did. Failure! (I gave it one star because there is no zero stars!

I made this for my family and they absolutely loved them. However, I didn't have "large sweet onions" that were called for, so I used whatever I found in the kitchen and it tasted great!

If I hadn't of made these myself, I would have thought they were deep fried. My family loves this recipe...crunchy, wonderful flavor in each ring!!!

These were the best onion rings I've ever eaten! I didn't even use ketchup because I loved the flavor of them on their own. I will be making these again.

I had never tried making onion rings in the oven and these turned out crunchy and tasty. Will certainly be using this recipe often.

It was light, crunchy, and very flavorful. I made a separate batch, added a dash of hot sauce to the buttermilk mixture and used it to coat boneless/skinless chicken thighs. It was just as flavorful as the onion rings. Made a delicious chicken sandwich with complimenting onion rings. Will definitely make it again.

These came out of the oven VERY crunchy! And it was so nice not to have an "oily" taste to the onion rings that comes from frying them. My family loved them and I'll be making them again tonight! Also, my local store did not have Maui onions available as they were "out of season" so I used a regular/plain "white" onion and it came out just perfect.
