This is a great cake, but this recipe has way too much cookie. It made it too dry. I have tried other recipes great results. I just thought to give Marcela's a try as I love her recipes. 7 oz. would be more than enough.

Love it!!! I just use the half of the cookies and if you don't have Marias you can use Graham Crackers.

I used 10 oz. of Maria crackers, as some reviewers suggested, and it was still too much-the bottom was too dry and tough to cut with a fork when eating, but it was delicious. I would suggest 7 oz.of Maria crackers, as other reviewers recommended. Overall the dessert was light and delicous, definitely reminiscent of cheesecake, but lighter. I especially liked the frosting and strawberries on top. I give the recipe 4 out of 5 stars due to the confusing part about Maria cracker amounts. I wouldn't change anything else. This smells amazing as the crust bakes.

I made it for the Easter dinner at a friend's house. It was so yummy! My husband is from D.F. Mexico.... I just thought I would try it and It was wonderful treat... ( I would make it again and it is not as sweet as I thought it would be I just added maybe one tsp Lemon juice and it tasted great.... Everyone who ate the cake said it was great treat...

OMG! This is a WONDERFUL recipe! This caught my eye since my husband has family that lives in Monterrey, MX. But, in all the times I've gone there I had never heard of it. Guess I'll have to teach my sister in laws a thing or two? Or scold them for never teaching me this one. Hahaha....Thanks Marcela!

Awesome recipe!!!! easy to make! I didn't put walnuts because I didn't have any but the combination of the Marias and the egg whites cooked was awesome. I call this the Mexican version of an Angel Food cake.

Everyone loved it!!! I will make two next time.

THis was great. Really sweet and I suggest using one small sleeve of the marias. I tried it with what the receipe calls for and it was way too much.

Delicious. I made it today and I was also confused with the amount of cookies. I used less than the 7 oz package because I thought it was too much. Next time I'll use the whole package of cookies and I will refrigerate a couple of hours before serving. I tried a little piece that was left in the refrigerator and for me it was even more delicious. I also tried the "Pastel Azteca" from the same program and it was awesome. I love Marcela's recipes.
